The concept of Pourtal allows you to taste 40 ever-changing wines by the ounce with an additional 30+ labels by the glass, including dessert wine and grower champagnes.

With a rotating selection of boutique, cult, vintage & value-driven wines that truly represent their terroir, our innovative Enomatic system allows you to taste what would normally be a $10 to $70 glass in a restaurant for a fraction of the price.

With an ocean-view, dog-friendly patio in the heart of Downtown Santa Monica, we are within easy walking distance to the many shops, restaurants, and theatres that the Third Street Promenade has to offer, Pourtal is a place to meet friends, enjoy an aperitif, or have a meal: all while experiencing a full wine tasting experience. Our “green goals” include providing a high proportion of “Nature Wines” that are beholden to the commitment of sulphur-free and organic grape growing, or drawn from the culture of “Bio-Dynamism”. Mindful of this, we attempt to leave as small an imprint as possible through our search for sustainably raised grapes from wine farmers.

Sunset Wine Class: Session Three: “Terroir”

September 14: Session #3 “Terroir”
We will discuss the importance of terroir in the production of wine. Why many think this is the key factor in grape growing. We will see specific examples of different types of soil composition and taste wines made from grapes grown in each. We will site examples from around the globe.

Upcoming Session:

September 28: Session #4 “Passport to Wine”
This session explores the different regions of the world. We explore in depth a specific country and focus on the variety of wines produced, including specific regions and typical grape varietals.

October 12: Session #5 “The Perfect Pairing”
In this session we will explore and experience wine and food pairings, and discuss the complementing characteristics that afford the perfect pairing. This session will be a culmination of the series, drawing insight and intrigue of lessons learned preparing the palate for more practical application.

"Justin Winery" Tasting

Welcome Justin Vineyards from sunny Paso Robles to sunny Santa Monica for a special tasting of their wines. Justin Winery is a family owned and operated winery making estate grown and produced wines. The property was founded in 1981 by Justin and Deborah Baldwin when they planted their 160 acre property to the major Bordeaux varietals and created their Estate vineyard. Their desire is to make world class wines that reflect the unique soils and climate of their California Central Coast property. Emphasis is placed on making Bordeaux-style blends and single varietals, combining Old World tradition with New World techniques.

Happy Hour Fundraiser for Heal the Bay

Pourtal Wine Tasting Bar is kicking off Santa Monica’s Glow Festival with a special Saturday afternoon Happy Hour in support of Coastal Cleanup Day and Heal the Bay & a special digital exhibition of “Sunlight and Water” later in the evening.

From 12pm to 4pm, Pourtal will be offering a selection of 5 different premium wines and beer for only $5.50 plus tax with 50 cents from every glass sold donated to Heal the Bay’s beach clean up efforts.
